As part of their camera purchase, Canon consumers receive some excellent free photo editing software. Digital Photo Professional, like Nikon Capture NX-D, produces excellent results from RAW files with no effort. It's designed specifically for Canon cameras and lenses, taking advantage of your camera's advanced built-in capabilities like Auto Lighting Optimizer and Picture Styles to improve your photos.
However, there are certain compromises to be made. Local modifications aren't possible, the program isn't the fastest, and the interface is antiquated and crowded.
