Free Desktop Photo Editing Software

01). Adobe Photoshop Express

Adobe Photoshop Express

Given how pricey a Photoshop subscription is, you might be surprised to learn that a free tool called Photoshop Express contains many of the same features. This is available not only for mobile platforms but also for PCs, which can be downloaded from the Windows Store. All you need is an Adobe ID, which is free and takes only a few minutes to create.

You may trim your photographs and enhance them with slider-based adjustments like contrast, clarity, saturation, vibrant colors with Photoshop Express. You can also use tools like Sharpen, Reduce Luminance Noise, and Reduce Color Noise to fine-tune Exposure, Highlights, and Shadows, as well as add filters.

02). Pixlr E

Pixlr E

More and more software is becoming available through the browser these days. Many people prefer this because there is no software to download, you don't have to worry about your computer's processing power, and you can use the app on any device with an internet connection.

This browser-based tool is a spin-off of Pixlr X, one of our favorite online photo editors for a long time. Pixlr E expands on the more basic toolset of Pixlr X to provide a broader collection of features that seasoned professionals would appreciate. Pixlr X is a picture editor and graphic design program that has a similar interface to Photoshop and allows you to do all of the standard adjustments.

03). Apple Photos

Apple Photos

If you own a Mac, Apple Photos is already installed on your computer. And if you try apple Photos, you might discover that it has all you need, especially if you're a beginner or only want to perform a few basic photo modifications.

This app is aimed at ordinary consumers and is adequately straightforward to use, with the kind of clean and minimal UI you'd expect from Apple. You can edit and enhance your photographs using parameters such as brightness, contrast, saturation, white balance, curves, levels, and vignette, in addition to cropping them.

You can revert to your original picture or reset your adjustments if you don't like how it looks.

04). Capture NX-D

Capture NX-D

It surprises us how many people search the internet for free photo editing software, dismissing the incredibly competent programs that come standard with their camera. A good example is Nikon's Capture NX-D.

Unlike most third-party tools, this RAW conversion and improvement software faithfully replicate Nikon's own Picture Controls and white balance settings. It converts Nikon NEF files to RAW in a very good way. It even has Color Control Points for local modifications.

05). Digital Photo Professional

Digital Photo Professional

As part of their camera purchase, Canon consumers receive some excellent free photo editing software. Digital Photo Professional, like Nikon Capture NX-D, produces excellent results from RAW files with no effort. It's designed specifically for Canon cameras and lenses, taking advantage of your camera's advanced built-in capabilities like Auto Lighting Optimizer and Picture Styles to improve your photos.

However, there are certain compromises to be made. Local modifications aren't possible, the program isn't the fastest, and the interface is antiquated and crowded.
